Position Title: Structural Steel Tilt-up Foreman

Reports To: Management Team

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Summary

We’re doing things differently – partnering with CMA Building Systems, a local manufacturer and supplier of prefabricated steel stud wall panels for erection onsite.  This collaboration is aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing installation times on our construction sites.

This role will be the link between the construction site and the wall panel production plant, overseeing all on-site installs and progress. If you are a hands-on leader with experience in tilt-up construction and are interested in applying those principles to a steel-based product, this role is for you.

Job Duties

  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Supervise daily site activities and coordinate crews to meet project timelines.
  • Address on-site challenges or delays and provide solutions promptly.
  • Ensure building is in accordance with specifications, building codes and other regulations.
  • Monitor quality, track progress, and maintain accurate records.
  • Plan next day’s work load and prepare look a-head schedules.
  • Provide technical assistance to subtrades by interpreting blueprints and recommending work processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite.
  • Work alongside less experienced employees to mentor/train them.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of skilled trade experience, including, carpentry, formwork or a other related construction trade.
  • 5+ years of experience in positions such as Foreman or Site Lead with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience working with pre-engineered steel systems or materials.

Job Capabilities/Performance Standards

  • Strong understanding of tilt-up construction practices.
  • Ability to identify and resolve related issues and recognize when to escalate to Project Manager.
  • Knowledge of general construction processes, permitting requirements, building codes, and regulations.
  • Comfortable and interested in using a computer for tasks such as reporting, scheduling, and creating presentations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
