Design Build Solutions completes nursing home build months ahead of schedule.

BEDFORD, NS – Originally slated to open this summer, the first 72 residents moved into the Shannex-operated long-term care home in November with the opening of the first of two wings. Another 72 residents started moving in on April 22 when the home’s second wing opened.

“With more than 70 seniors’ living environments under out belts, we’ve become industry leaders in nursing home builds,” said Darrell Dixon, president of Design Build Solutions. “This allows our teams to move efficiently with a phased build and open approach, getting residents into their new home even sooner than expected.”

Moody Hall is a 144-bed nursing home in Bedford South, Nova Scotia, featuring six separate neighborhoods with 24 suites each. The new home features ample natural light, wide hallways and private rooms and washrooms. Moody Hall also incorporates Design Build Solutions’ signature design piece, an indoor Main Streetthat offers a small-town atmosphere, fostering connection between the residents who call Moody Hall home.

Construction of Moody Hall was announced by the Province of Nova Scotia in May 2023, and this completed nursing home is among the first to open out of the more than 50 homes to be built by 2032.
