Position Information
Position Title: Interior Design Technician
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Interior Design Technician to join our team based in Halifax, NS! You will be working in the interiors department. This position holds responsibility to prepare and update conceptual designs and construction drawing sets, source materials and coordinate project design changes to support the project team in the execution of multi-unit building construction projects.
Required Education & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Architectural Engineering, Architectural Drafting, or a comparable design program, or a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years experience with various design software’s.
Job Duties
- Prepare drawings using design software, including but not limited to:
- Interior details and millwork drawings
- Reflected ceiling plans
- Floor plans
- Finish schedules
- Floor finish plans
- Detail plans
- Source furniture, materials, and finishes that align with project goals.
- Develop concept proposals/presentations, including mood boards, color schemes, and material selections.
- Prepare plans and specifications for the final design in accordance with current practices and codes.
- Maintain consistent organization of both the sample and digital library.
- Visit current construction sites to verify dimensions and details.
- Stay informed about design trends, materials, and technology to offer the best solutions.
Job Capabilities/Performance Standards
- Strong understanding of design principles, materials, and industry trends.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Basic understanding and application of Building Code(s) and other standards or codes of practice.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
- Advanced with Microsoft Office applications
