Position Information

Position Title: Project Coordinator

Reports To: Project Manager

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Job Summary: You will be responsible for the organization and management of records and information needed to ensure decisions related to the construction progress are based on the most accurate and up-to-date information. Working closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent, you will keep the project and all related processes operating smoothly and on schedule from concept to client handover.  

Required Education and Experience

Education:

  • Construction Management Technology, University Degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience

Experience:

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Computer literacy including working skills in Microsoft Office and cloud-based software

Job Duties

  • Maintain logs pertaining to shop drawings, RFIs, SIs, Cos, safety violations and submit to the appropriate parties.
  • Escalate site issues to the Site Superintendent to support the proper flow of construction so that budget and schedule are not compromised.
  • Gather necessary information to assist with issuing subcontracts and revise current contracts.
  • Regular walk-through of site to ensure scope of work is being met.
  • Track all project deliverables and keep an organized system on project status and progress to identify problems and solutions.
  • Monitor subcontractors on site to ensure they are complying with safety standards and escalate any issues to the Site Superintendent.
  • Assist Site Superintendent in documenting any safety incidents to submit to the Safety Manager.
  • Coordinate safety orientations with Safety Manager for incoming subcontractors on site.
  • Monitor site progress and collaborate with the management team to consider factors that may impact the project to assist in preparation of manpower planning and scheduling.
  • Prepare material ordering and coordinate any purchasing as per project scope.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with trade partners and projects team on site.
  • Participate in weekly trade coordination meetings, including preparation and distribution of meeting minutes.

Job Capabilities/Performance Standards

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft MS Office Suite, including MS Word and MS Excel
  • Knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive self-starter.
  • Ability to make decisions based on relevant facts.
  • Understands the value of project documentation and takes ownership of this function.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and openly with clients, team members and supervisors in a timely and positive manner
  • An outstanding and positive attitude and are dependable and consistently deliver high quality professional service
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and CSA approved safety boots.
